Hi my name is John Battista, I am a software engineer and tech founder born and raised in NYC. I have been a golfer for over 10 years and I face the same struggles all NYC golfers do. I have set out to create a club that makes golfing fun and more accessible to golfers in the NYC area. The idea has been with me since I moved to Manhattan in June of 2023. I always golfed and found it extremely difficult to enjoy my favorite outdoor past time while living in the city.

Overview - Bogeys and Stogies

Referred to often as “BS CLUB“, is a golf group that is for golfers living in the NYC, Hoboken / Jersey City area that find it difficult to organize golfing. The most popular struggles are getting tee times, transportation and finding a group to play with. BS Club solves all of these issues for golfers. Firstly, BS Club provides transportation to and from golf courses. Our shuttle has several stops in Staten Island and Manhattan to take the hassle out of traveling, and expanding the courses available to you… which would normally be an expensive Uber or not reachable by public transit. Secondly, we book tee times at courses in advance, so all you have to do is show up and play. No need to scramble to find a Saturday morning tee time on a Friday night. Lastly, many NYC golfers don’t have a group of regular golfers to play with. BS Club encourages you to come alone and play with other members. Our foursomes are randomly generated so everyone will be playing with new members every week. This is a great time to network and make new friends in the city.

Requirements

• 21 years or older

• Own a set of golf clubs

• Live in NYC (any borough), Hoboken or Jersey city

• $100 per year of membership

• Attend 20% of events annually

Events

Currently, BS Club holds monthly events, which will be posted on the BS Club website in advance. On the site you will find all relevant details and the ability to register and pay. As the club grows in members, we plan to hold events every other week and then on a weekly basis. Events consist of golfing and happy hour events.

Golf events are held mostly at New Jersey golf courses. New Jersey has a lot of golf courses, that are not only cheaper, but in better condition. You will be able to enjoy many courses you have never played before!

Happy hours will occur on a monthly basis for current members and those interested in joining the club. It will be a great opportunity to connect with people and have fun prior to getting out on the course.

Pricing

Pricing for events varies based on the time and location of an event. Golf events are typically ~$150 with club provided transit. We offer the ability to skip on the provided transit and just pay for the green fees.
